Bob Finnan was a sport in a Cavs crazed chat tonight. I hope that his trips to New York and Atlanta are more relaxing. (which I'm sure they will be.)

Paul Clayton:  damn thunderstorms messing w/ my connection
ERockRIP:  hey sirpaul. It's storming in Ctown?
Paul Clayton:  pretty much the whole area I believe
ERockRIP:  I see. Great job in arranging this chat.
Paul Clayton:  thanks, still pimping everyone I can think of
Paul Clayton:  want a good turn out for Bob
CBBI:  This is CBBI from the ESPN.com board
Paul Clayton:  how are you tonight?
CBBI:  I cant complain
ERockRIP:  As long as the regulars show up, we'll make it worth his time. CBBI is a longtime regular from the ESPN site. What's up?
CBBI:  Indians won 14-0
Paul Clayton:  wow, I forgot they had that O's game today
ERockRIP:  Tribe is showing up. The young kids are gonna make people take notice
Booze11:  What's up boys?
Bob Finnan:  Hello room
CBBI:  hello Bob
ERockRIP:  Hello Bob. Welcome. It's our pleasure
ERockRIP:  Indulge me for a minute. How great would this summer be if the TRIBE won the AL Central?
Bob Finnan:  They are playing well. I'm filling in for our Indians' writer for the Mets and Braves series, starting tomorrow
Paul Clayton:  the Tribe is reminding of the Cavs season...better than expected and streaky
Bob Finnan:  Hello everyone
kgod:  hello bob!
Paul Clayton:  Hello Bob, no problems getting in?
Buckeye:  hello!
Booze11:  Hello Bob
CavsFanLBJ2k4:  hello bob :)
Bob Finnan:  Yo, Booz
Booze11:  Yeah
Bob Finnan:  Sir Paul, no problem at all.
Paul Clayton:  good
ERockRIP:  Are we gonna wait a few minutes or start it up right away?
CavsFanGa:  you ready for us Bob?
Paul Clayton:  whatever Bob wants to do
kgod:  I have madd questions!
Bob Finnan:  Let's go
Buckeye:  Bob...Dickie V writes that th4e Cavs should take Jameer Nelson. Your thoughts on him?
Bob Finnan:  This is not a popular opinion, but whoever writes that the Cavs will take Jameer is not doing their homework
CBBI:  Bob... Luke Jackson has supposedly been wowing everyone in workouts, any chance the Cavaliers reach and pick him at 10?
Bob Finnan:  I left the Chicago pre-draft camp Sunday thinking the Cavs would take Luke Jackson.
CavsFanGa:  Do you see the cavs being involved in a deal with Bobcats involving Dejaun and/or Ollie?
Bob Finnan:  I think it's possible. I think they'll offer the Bobcats some money not to take Kapono. If that doesn't work, they might entice the offer with Juanny.
Paul Clayton:  let me go back real quick..why not on Jameer and why on Jackson...what have you seen to make that assessment
Bob Finnan:  Jameer was a great college player - one of the best in the country. He's 5-11 for one thing. It's just too high to take him at 10, I think.
Bob Finnan:  Jackson is 6-7, 215, kind of a swingman, with good athleticism. I don't want to sound like Larry Bird here, but teams wanted to know how athletic he was. they are finding out that he is very athletic.
ERockRIP:  Are the Cavs high on Jackson? I understand that he had a great workout but didn't hear any reaction. I live out in Cali. I watched him play a lot. He's good.
kgod:  Bob, they say Luke is an athletic version of Wally world...is that accurate?
Booze11:  Bob... What about this rumored Kirk Snyder promise? Could it be the Cavs
Buckeye:  Can you describe the rumor?
CavsFanLBJ2k4:  doh
CBBI:  that isn't good
Bob Finnan:  I think I got knocked off there for a second
Booze11:  Well, ESPN insiders had it reported that some team in the lottery gave him a promise, maybe the Cavs
Bob Finnan:  I wouldn't be surprised. I don't know if it's Cleveland
Bob Finnan:  I know Paxson likes him
kgod:  Bob, any chance we trade up and take Ben Gordon?
Bob Finnan:  I think Ben Gordon will be there at 10
kgod:  hows he looking in workouts?
Paul Clayton:  I like Ben Gordon
Bob Finnan:  My mock draft will change 10 times before the draft, but right now I have him going 11 to Golden State
ERockRIP:  Do you think the Cavs would draft Harris or Gordon (if they drop) over any of the swingmen?
Buckeye:  Where do you have Devin Harris?
Bob Finnan:  I'll go over my top 10 if you supply me the draft order
kgod:  Devin harries reportedly weights 170 lbs....light!
CBBI:  Orlando, LA, Chicago, Charlotte, Washington, Atlanta, Phoenix, Toronto, Philly, Cleveland
ERockRIP:  Harris reminds me of Andre Miller with a jump shot
Bob Finnan:  Orlando - Okafor
Bob Finnan:  LA - Howard - even though I think Atlanta will trade up for this pick
Bob Finnan:  Chicago - Leng
Bob Finnan:  Charlotte - Childress
Bob Finnan:  Wash - Iguodala
Falb:  wow
kgod:  I wonder if iguodala has a jumper yet?
CBBI:  Iggy at 5
CBBI:  interesting
Bob Finnan:  Atlanta - Here's where it gets a bit dicey. I have the Clippers trading down for this pick and taking Livingston
Falb:  Livingston would be a good pick for the Clippers, and it would be a good trade for ATL as well.
Bob Finnan:  Phoenix - Harris
Bob Finnan:  Toronto - Pavel
Bob Finnan:  Philly - Biedrins
Bob Finnan:  Cleveland - Jackson
Paul Clayton:  is that ATL trade the one they give up Terry in?
Falb:  no, 6 and 17 for #2
CavsFanGa:  it was rumored the Cavs might trade the pick at 10 for a vet why do think that has changed or has it?
Bob Finnan:  Speaking of looking like André Miller - Livingston looks like he could be his brother in the face - until he opens his mouth
kgod:  Richard Pryor?
Falb:  Andre Miller should thank Lamond Murray and Wes Person for his contract
ERockRIP:  Except he can't benchpress 150 LBS. Lol. No knock on his ability though.
CBBI:  trading the pick seems like a bad idea
Bob Finnan:  I heard Clips, Chicago both want to trade down
Bob Finnan:  I have not heard Cleveland talking about going up, possibly out, but not up
Paul Clayton:  who would they go after if they go down
Bob Finnan:  Atlanta giving No. 6 and Terry for Clippers' 2
Falb:  It all depends on who is available, which veterans on other teams
Paul Clayton:  that's what I thought Bob
Bob Finnan:  Cavs would trade 10 for a veteran starting SF or SG
kgod:  if we take luck Jackson...and trade juanny...we'll need a point guard.
Falb:  right
Paul Clayton:  anyone they have in mind maybe?
Bob Finnan:  They can address the PG in free agency. There are a lot of backup PGs, including Brevin
kgod:  how about that dude from Minnesota that opted out
kgod:  name??
CavsFanGa:  and Rafer Alston and Damon Jones
CBBI:  Troy Hudson would cost the entire MLE
Falb:  Sprewell....
kgod:  Hudson...yeah...
ERockRIP:  So if they are considering a trade, for whom? Please don't say Wally. How can they justify that contract?
kgod:  that's a rumor I heard recently
Bob Finnan:  Yes, Hudson would cost quite a bit. Remember, they talked to Minny about a Hudson-for-Miles trade at the deadline
Falb:  Hey Bob, when will the Cavaliers extend Boozer?
Paul Clayton:  I heard from ""sources"" tonight that they are pretty interested in Wally if they can make it work
Paul Clayton:  doesn't sound right to me
kgod:  he better be healthy
Bob Finnan:  I haven't heard anything about Wally this summer. Saw his dad at the pre-draft camp. They will likely pick up Boozer's option this summer and sign him long term next summer for big bucks
kgod:  bob...is Luke right handed or southpaw?
Bob Finnan:  Righty
kgod:  I heard he has a 35+ inch vertical...Jackson that is
CBBI:  Do you have any concerns about his ability (Jackson's) to play defense on the NBA level?
kgod:  I also heard his defense needs work
Falb:  A) Is it a lock Jeff McInnis will be re-signed next off season and B) How long do you expect it to be for?
Falb:  3-4 years was my guess
Bob Finnan:  He's very athletic. Has sort of a swagger to him, too. That might be a problem. He's not a top defender, but neither is LBJ
Falb:  but this is the same Paxson that gave a 30-year old Ollie a 5-year deal
ERockRIP:  Jackson is ultra competitive. He's got a great makeup. That's another reason I like him. He's a tough SOB.
kgod:  do u see Luke playing the 2 or 3?
Bob Finnan:  Is it a lock to re-sign McInnis? I would think so, if he plays like he did this year. at least 3-4 years, $5 or $6 mill a year
Falb:  I see
CavsFanGa:  why don't you see Josh or JR smith being taken with the Top 13 picks
CBBI:  Is it a lock to resign Jeff even if we pick a Devin Harris or Ben Gordon?
Bob Finnan:  Luke would probably play 2, eventually. I can't say he'll be an immediate starter. I don't think it's an absolute lock they take him, either. One of the PG's is still a distinct possibility.
Bob Finnan:  I think I have josh going at 12 to Seattle. the Sonics also like pavel, I'm told. also, the cavs have a tentative workout thurs with, get this, pavel
Falb:  WOW
CavsFanGa:  eek
Bob Finnan:  here I am on here scooping myself
ERockRIP:  If the Cavs draft a PG, they will obviously be looking at a swingman in FA. Who are they looking at. We've heard Barry or Turkoglu. Is Stephen Jackson on the radar?
Falb:  I wonder if they're still thinking about trading Ilgauskas
Paul Clayton:  scooping goood :-)
Bob Finnan:  Scooping, not good. I haven't got that in the paper yet
Paul Clayton:  oops :)
kgod:  bob...have u seen josh Childress? is he a consideration?
CavsFanGa:  wonder of Pavel will be matching up against Z or Diop who are working out at the Gund?
Bob Finnan:  I talked to him twice in the last week - once at gund and in chic. he won't be there.
Bob Finnan:  Pavel's agent wouldn't allow that in a million years.
CBBI:  he can work out with Boom-Boom :)
Falb:  On a side note, Jim Thome just hit career HR #400
CavsFanGa:  or diop?
Bob Finnan:  cool
Bob Finnan:  going back to free agency ...
Falb:  yes
kgod:  Bob...have u seen Kevin martin workout?
Bob Finnan:  I think their main target is Barry. but I think it's a pipedream.
ERockRIP:  So do I. Barry is a west coast guy.
Super Dave:  Is Juanny a future Bobcat along with Ollie?
Bob Finnan:  I threw Jackson's name out there, and a cavs' source said - he's not a good fit. I don't know what that meant
Falb:  Juanny is NOT a future Bobcat
Bob Finnan:  no, I haven't seen Kevin martin, but I know he's from Zanesville
Falb:  read Bob's article from last week pal, it says who isn't being protected
Paul Clayton:  Bob how positive are you on that list?
calicleveland:  Hello all!
Paul Clayton:  not to add any doubt
kgod:  heres hoping they keep juanny
Paul Clayton:  hello calicleve
Bob Finnan:  Pretty strong - they didn't protect kapono, ollie, ira and boom
Super Dave:  Is Diop a future Bobcat along with Ollie?
Paul Clayton:  They had Kapona, Brown and supposedly talk of adding Battie to the list...how did they finally decide?
kgod:  Bob, do u think they will ever try starting jaunny at the 2 with lebron at the three?
Bob Finnan:  they protected diop. at some point they have to get tired of him
calicleveland:  Speaking of Ollie, does anyone know the status of his contract. I have heard 5 years with a team option after 3...but I have also heard to the contrary
Bob Finnan:  pax and silas duked it out
Paul Clayton:  Silas won again, huh
Bob Finnan:  silas wanted to keep kapono, I heard
kgod:  silas doesnt like juanny that much does he
Paul Clayton:  wow, Brown seems more of his kind of guy
Super Dave:  I think Diop will get traded to somebody
Bob Finnan:  It's hard not to like juanny as a guy. his inconsistency would drive any coach crazy
kgod:  yeah...but he's only 21
CavsFanGa:  how much influence do you think Silas will have on who we draft at 10?
Bob Finnan:  Very much input
Bob Finnan:  Ollie and newble have identical contracts - 5 years, 14.76 mill, no options
kgod:  what a rip off
ERockRIP:  The magic of Paxson
Bob Finnan:  diop could go somewhere, but you need another big man
kgod:  might as well bring back trajic langdon
calicleveland:  so the reports of a team option on realGM are incorrect. not surprising
Paul Clayton:  Trajan is tearing up Turkey
kgod:  is he really?
Falb:  Paxson = still a question mark. He got a title change and a promotion basically for having LeBron fall into his lap.
Paul Clayton:  yeah, just won some championship
Bob Finnan:  interesting way to put it
Falb:  do you agree?
Super_Dave:  Are you afraid that the Cavs are devaluing this draft so that they can get a free pass on trading the 10th and Ollie?
calicleveland:  paxson seems to let his coaches do a LOT of the player evealuation for the Cavs. which is not good on a team whichhas as much coaching turnover as the cavs
Bob Finnan:  I think pax does a super job dumping salary. let's leave it at that.
CavsFanGa:  is it pretty much a given the Cavs will choose a PG at 10 if available?
kgod:  hope for ben....ROY?
Bob Finnan:  Did you get here late?
Falb:  Yes
Super_Dave:  Yes
calicleveland:  yes
Bob Finnan:  Ben Gordon, Rookie of Year?
kgod:  no?
Falb:  english please?
CavsFanLBJ2k4:  lol
calicleveland:  haha
Falb:  sorry, continue Bob
Bob Finnan:  I think they like Luke Jackson, as well as the best PG between Harris or Gordon
Paul Clayton:  just so all knows there will be a transcript tonight at http://cavs.fanmonster.com/ or the link t othe top left
kgod:  bob....who would you rather have....gordon or harris and y?
Falb:  Lumberman what's up
Bob Finnan:  If Livingston drops to 10, they'll take him.
calicleveland:  is childress on the map for the cavs if he falls?
Bob Finnan:  absolutely. i don't think childress would get past philly
calicleveland:  shame. he seems the best fit of the possible players available
Booze11:  Bob, you said earlier that you think getting B. Barry is a pipedream. If they don't get him, who do you think they will get?
Bob Finnan:  Let me back up a second ... harris or gordon?
Falb:  Good question Booze. They seem intent on getting that veteran wingman
kgod:  yes bob!
calicleveland:  falb, i would guess that depends on who they get in the draft
Falb:  you're right
Falb:  Cali
Bob Finnan:  harris is such a nice guy. nice smile, looks you in the eye, polite. gordon is an SOB, kick you in the balls type. tough kid. i like gordon a lot, even though some think harris has the softest jumper in the draft.
calicleveland:  I, at this point, just shudder at the idea of picking nelson
daytripper:  Bob, some mock drafts have them selecting Jameer Nelson. I hope he isn't on their radar.
CavsFanGa:  what is the fascination with Biedrins?
kgod:  what about trading for Al Harrington
Falb:  another characteristic of Andre Miller that Harris has
Bob Finnan:  if barry wants more money, they might go after stephen jackson, but there's something about him they don't like
Bob Finnan:  you guys are getting too far ahead of me
Falb:  He got in a fight with Boozer last year and James and taunted the Cavalier bench
calicleveland:  ricky davis hang over perhaps/
kgod:  booze almost beat jacksons butt
calicleveland:  ?
Paul Clayton:  ok, time for a few second timeout for bob to catch his breath
Falb:  kgod's in his own world here Bob, sorry
CavsFanGa:  you mean what happened at thelast Hawks game
Paul Clayton:  you guys can talk but give Bob a break to get caught up
kgod:  hey now:)
Falb:  :-P
CavsFanGa:  you're up Bob
calicleveland:  I wonder about the availability of Okur now that wallace has made such a big splash in Detroit...and if hew would be worth the money
Bob Finnan:  I remember the Jackson-Boozer thing last year in Atlanta. Silas loved it.
Paul Clayton:  not surprising at all
Falb:  they didn't seem to have a love loss afterwards
Booze11:  I think I speak for most people in this room when I say that we all are just excited about the possibilities for this team and what a good offseason can do for us
kgod:  that was awesome
Falb:  Yes Booze
kgod:  im just thankful we got lebron
calicleveland:  I like Jacksons fire and game...just not his shot selection
Bob Finnan:  Okur might get more than the mid-level, which is the most the cavs can offer anyone. if they want to go after a big man, i would re-sign skinner
Falb:  He seems like a Silas guy
daddywags:  I'm late to the chat, too. What are the prospects for trading the pick? Serious?
Paul Clayton:  daddy yeah, he hit that...not much unless it's down
Bob Finnan:  Pax mentioned it two or three times - they might trade the pick for a veteran starting SF or SG
daddywags:  Thanks.
calicleveland:  is there any word about the Cavs trading for a second rounder? Possibly for a backup big
Falb:  Yup
CavsFanGa:  Bob who do you think stock has dropped the most during the workouts?
Bob Finnan:  pax might go after a 2nd rounder. it might hinge on whether they lose someone in the expansion draft
Bob Finnan:  sebastian telfair
kgod:  Bob, what do u think of ricky miniard?
calicleveland:  given the choice, Jackson or Snyder?
Bob Finnan:  Morehead State kid? 2nd round?
Bob Finnan:  Jackson
Bob Finnan:  snyder is going to be good, though
calicleveland:  any insight into why a guy (jackson) with good lateral movement is such a bad defender?
CavsFanGa:  which Interantional player are you highest on or think will be the biggest surprise?
Bob Finnan:  good question. perhaps he's never had a coach who insisted on defense like silas would
Falb:  Does Paul Silas still have faith in Ira Newble, after he proved to finally be worth the money for the last 5 games of the year last season?
Bob Finnan:  I think Biedrins will go the highest of the internations, maybe pavel
Super_Dave:  Bob, who do you think is the most logical pick for the Cavs?
Bob Finnan:  he did play well at the end of the season. they got a lot out of ira toward the end of the season.
daddywags:  Do you think they would really consider Nelson at 10? (Probably already covered, if so, I apologize.)
Bob Finnan:  harris or gordon, probably
Bob Finnan:  absolutely not
Chip:  hey bob have you seen Jaber Rouzbahani at all....is there a possibilyity he would not get drafted because of the fact he cant speak english or concerns of his health?
daddywags:  Good.
Bob Finnan:  did you make that name up?
Chip:  no
Paul Clayton:  lol
Chip:  hes from iran...7 foor 5
anonyguy:  does he have 3 hands?
daddywags:  Any news on Kevin Ollie who was reported to be working out already in Cleveland? He's a good guy, is he working hard to improve his game?
Chip:  foot*
CavsFanGa:  have you heard about David Stern's proposal to use the NBDL as minor league for the NBA, something liek that could have helped diop's development a great deal
Bob Finnan:  jaber is not draft eligible, as far as i know. never heard of the iranian
ERockRIP:  Don't you think it's a bad idea to trade our pick for a veteran? The Cavs need young talent to form a core around Lebron. Most of our young guys are just role players.
Bob Finnan:  ollie is working out in cleveland. good reports from silas. will probably be the third-string PG
MYoung23:  Its about damn time
Falb:  You can't just put the #8 overall pick in the ""minor leagues"" coming off a 30-52 season or whatever it was
Paul Clayton:  hey MYoung...
Bob Finnan:  diop was as ready for the nba as sir paul
Falb:  long time no speak M
Falb:  HAHAHAHA
MYoung23:  It took me an hour to get in here
CavsFanGa:  thats the reason for Stern's proposal
Falb:  Sure it did
ERockRIP:  SIr pAUL can't play at all? LOL.
lumberman2:  I just got in also
Paul Clayton:  lol, hey i'm 6' w/ a good 2 oot shot
Paul Clayton:  foot
LumtheMad:  Any Chance Wags will remain a Cavalier?
Bob Finnan:  will trade pick for vet because they have so many young players now. personally, i don't agree.
CBBI:  trading the pick just seems like a bad idea
Falb:  It's a good debate.
Paul Clayton:  wouldn't it be better to trade the young guys that aren't working for a vet?
MYoung23:  What have I missed?
anonyguy:  this draft is weak. the cavs need to play well in the few years they have lebron so they can convince him to stay.
lumberman2:  couldn't tell you..I wasn't here
CBBI:  mediocre veterans do nothing for me.... in my opinion the rebuilding process is not over
Bob Finnan:  the nbdl was designed to do something is never panned out to be
MYoung23:  What is available for the 10th pick?
calicleveland:  thanks for the info Bob. Later, gentlemen
LumtheMad:  It's no good to take a young guy if you don't play him. I hope the Nba establishes a minor-league system...
Paul Clayton:  MYoung, i'll email it to you
MYoung23:  ok thanks
daddywags:  Names mentioned (since I've been here) are: Gordon, Harris, Livingston, Jackson and Childress (as far as players the team would be interested in). Not Nelson, which is a good thing.
Bob Finnan:  my guess is that wags will be elsewhere
Falb:  wow
CBBI:  guys like Boom-Boom and Kapono and Kedrick could have been getting playing time, gaining confidence (especially is Brown's case)
MYoung23:  I meant in a trade
CBBI:  if the NBDL was a true minor league system
CavsFanGa:  exactly CBB!
Bob Finnan:  i dont think this team is ready for a championship. why not another good young, athletic player?
WatchdogXC:  Do you think Charlotte will take Kapono?
Paul Clayton:  alot of debate on Z's price next year..how much less could the Cavs get him vs. the rest of the league?
Falb:  good question SirPaul
MYoung23:  I agree with Bob
LumtheMad:  Thanks Bob. I was hopeful somehow Wagner could mesh and play with Lebron. It's shame. You can see Wagner has talent....
Falb:  at the same time though M and Bob, Z and McInnis aren't getting any younger
MYoung23:  Whos interested in Wagner?
Bob Finnan:  I do think charlotte will take kapono
Bob Finnan:  the cavs have supposedly offered them money not to
ERockRIP:  Bob, you do have any idea what the trade value of Wagner or Diop is? Do you think we could get a late 1st rounder for Diop?
Falb:  WOW
MYoung23:  Z and McInnis arent ancient but their position need to be addressed as they move forward
Falb:  right
CBBI:  i dont think losing Kapono is a big loss... he hardly played as is
Bob Finnan:  Z has a very shrewd agent. 3-4 years, 11 mill a season.
Falb:  yikes
CBBI:  are you kidding?
anonyguy:  hahaha
WatchdogXC:  I can live with 11 million for Z
anonyguy:  11M?
Chip:  less then he makes now....
LumtheMad:  Why did they choose to protect Battie? Makes little sense...
MYoung23:  thats pretty much market value
CBBI:  i was expecting some cap relief with Z, jesus
anonyguy:  some guy guaranteed that z wouldn't be signed for more than 8
WatchdogXC:  how much is it going to take to extend Boozer?
Falb:  big $$$
Bob Finnan:  Wagner's trade value is at an all-time low
CavsFanGa:  what is your take on the Bob Donewald situation, some say got a raw deal while others thought he was a glory hound and not the right fit to oversee LBJ
CBBI:  Boozer will get AT LEAST what Kenny Thomas got (7 yrs 50 mil)
Falb:  I saw him routinely at the Winking Lizard after games hanging out with the Cavalier girls (Donewald)
WatchdogXC:  I'd rather hold on to Wagner and get his value up. He still has never gone through a training camp
Bob Finnan:  CBBI, they expected Kapono to be a rotation player this year - if he stays
DirkMatt:  Booz won't sign until after next year. He would lose money long term if he did
MYoung23:  Wagner's value wont go up if he plays PG
WatchdogXC:  Would it really be bad if they exposed Diop to the Bobcats? I don't see him ever being a contributor on a good team
LumtheMad:  I agree with Myoung. He's got to play SG for his value to go up
Bob Finnan:  Battie is a pretty good player. He knows how to win
Falb:  I like Battie
Paul Clayton:  but can he really be counted on? Battie that is
WatchdogXC:  What are the Cavaliers thoughts on LeBron and Boozer playing in the olympics?
Bob Finnan:  Boozer - 6-7 years, starting with about 7 or 8 mill
CavsFanGa:  even though Silas rarely played Kapono unless the defensive situation warrnted which was rarely the case
LumtheMad:  See that's my thought too SirPaul. Health issues and salary-wise it makes sense to toss Battie out as bait...
Falb:  I hope Booz and LeBron arent burnt out by December
MYoung23:
